About the Library
The Central Library of the Engineering College serves as a knowledge hub that supports academic excellence, research, innovation, and lifelong learning among students and faculty members. The library is well equipped with a rich collection of textbooks, reference books, national and international journals, magazines, newspapers, project reports, multimedia resources, and back volumes of journals covering various disciplines of engineering and technology.
The library has a spacious and peaceful reading environment with a seating capacity of 100 students and is fully automated with OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) facilities for easy access to library resources. The library follows the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) system for organizing books and information resources efficiently.The fully air-conditioned library creates a comfortable atmosphere for reading, research, and self-learning. The library continuously updates its collection and services to meet the evolving academic and research needs of students and faculty members.

Acquisition Section
Acquisition Section is entrusted with the acquisition of all syllabus textbooks, reference books as prescribed in the course syllabus of Anna University for all programmes. The Faculty can make new recommendations to the library through the Online Book Recommendation Form available in the library portal. They can download the recommendation forms and after duly signing them, forward it to the Professor In-Charge of their Campus Library through their Head of the Department / Principal. The library takes diligent measures in the timely supply of the ordered books.
Periodical Section
Periodical Section is assigned with the purchase of both print and online journals, newspapers and magazines for the college library. The library subscribes to Print Indian Journals and E-Journals by direct subscription.
Circulation Section
In the Circulation Section, registration of new users is done using their Smart Card. The Self Checkout Kiosk enables users to issue their books by themselves.
Book Bank Section
The book bank facility is provided to SC / ST students of RVCE. The syllabus textbooks and reference books as prescribed in the course syllabus of Anna University for all UG Programmes are procured in this section and donated books from individuals and organizations are kept in the book bank section.
Stock Maintenance Section
The books purchased for the College Library are made available for lending to the user fraternity of RVCE. The books are stacked in the Library. The users can search for the books through OPAC systems with the support of the library staff.
Reference Section
Reference Books (both Indian and Foreign), High Priced Books, and Donated Books from individuals and organizations are kept in the Reference Section.
Career Guidance Section
The Career Guidance Section of the college library has a fully-fledged collection of materials for the preparation of competitive examinations like GATE, GRE, GMAT, CAT, SAT, TOEFL, IELTS, UPSC, RRB, SSC, BANK, TNPSC, etc.
Back Volume Section
The library back volume section houses bound, older issues of journals, magazines, and newspapers, often referred to as "back sets," which are no longer current. This section preserves serials for long-term reference, research, and scholarly consultation.
Technical Section
The main functions of the Technical Section include cataloguing, classifying, and physically processing (stamping, bar-coding, labeling) books, journals, and digital materials to ensure they are organized and accessible in the library catalogue.
Digital Section
The Digital Reading Hall provides tablets to users with free Wi-Fi access for browsing E-Resources from DELNET.
Circulation Services
The library provides core lending services including book issue and return, renewals, and reservation facilities for users.
Reference Services
Personalized assistance is provided to users through:
- Short-range Service: Quick and factual information support.
- Long-range Service: In-depth research assistance and literature searches.
Information / Digital Services
Users can access online databases, e-journals, e-books, and OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogues) through the digital library services.
Current Awareness Service (CAS)
The library proactively informs users about newly arrived books, latest journals, and recent information resources.
Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI)
A personalized information service that provides specific and relevant information to users based on their research interests and requirements.
Technical / Reprographic Services
The library offers photocopying, scanning, and printing services for academic and research purposes.
Extension Services
Outreach services such as bookmobiles, services for differently-abled users, and community information services are provided to extend library support.
User Education / Orientation
Training and orientation programmes are conducted to help users effectively utilize library resources, databases, and cataloguing systems.
Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
The Interlibrary Loan facility enables users to borrow books and materials from other libraries to fulfill their academic and research requirements.

📚 Library Rules & Regulations
- All the Staff and Students are members of our Library.
- Users must record their entry while entering the library.
- All books must be returned on or before the due date.
- If any Library Book is lost, the concerned member must replace the book with the latest edition along with overdue charges.
- If the book is not returned by the member, triple the cost of the book will be collected from the concerned member.
- Members are required to keep their properties outside the library.
- Personal books and belongings are not permitted inside the Library.
- Silence is to be strictly observed in the library.
- Final year students should return all books to the library for obtaining the No Dues Certificate.
- Books returned after the due date will be charged an overdue fee of Rs. 5 per day per book.
- Books may be returned on all working days. Absence from the institution shall not be an excuse for delay in returning books.
- Library books are to be used with utmost care and returned without any damage.
- Damaged books shall not be accepted and must be replaced by the borrower.
- Laptop computers are allowed inside the library for reference work.
- Underlining, scribbling, tearing of pages, mishandling of books/journals, or misuse of computers will be punishable.
- If any book is taken out of the Library without proper entry, serious action will be taken.
- The competent authority will take necessary action against users who violate the Library rules and regulations.
- 8.30 am to 5.30 pm (Monday to Saturday)
- 9.30 am to 12.30 pm (Sunday)
- The Library remains open throughout the all working days except on government / Management declared holiday.
